IQMF was founded in 2015 in Amsterdam and is a festival for queer & migrant related films as well as a multi-disciplinary community space with art exhibitions, workshops, talks and the international talent programme IQMF Academy, all contributing to a diverse and inclusive society.
IQMF is a project of Stichting art.1, a foundation focusing on the advancement of human rights through art. Staff members of Stichting art.1 have initiated projects in different countries such as Azerbaijan, Surinam and Uruguay. These are some of the projects currently happening.
IQMF Academy is a talent program for young, international queer and/ or migrant filmmakers that runs simultaneous to the festival. Guided by a number of experts the participants follow three days of workshops, to gain experience on topics as: ‘Distribution’, ‘Festival Strategy’ and ‘Pitching’. All trainees are encouraged to join the contest for Best Pitch. The winning pitch receives a €1000 research grant. If you are interested in participating next year, please go to our website to apply.
Youth Artivists for Change focuses on empowering young filmmakers, storytellers, artists and activists in creating social awareness on Human Rights/ LGBTQ rights and gender equality through the arts. An alliance of seventeen organizations working within arts, culture, gender equality and Human/ LGBTQ+ rights connects young people with different cultural backgrounds. Through activities such as the launch of LGBTQ+ film festivals, photo exhibitions, debates and the building of safe spaces.
