Yavuz Kurtulmus is a social activist, festival director and film enthusiast from Turkey, but living in Vienna, Austria since 30 years. He started MiGaY in 2009, Austria’s first organisation for Queer migrants, which has been key in increasing the visibility and status of LGBTIQ people with an immigrant background. In 2012, he started Transition Queer Minorities Film Festival, then known as the “Queer Migrant Film Days”, which is Europe’s first film event for, by and about queer minority issues, with a focus on migration, refugees, dis/ability, trans* issues and much more.
